Designing a User Interface

After getting some great marketing data, we felt we were ready to start sketching out what the user interface would look like. I want the look and feel of the site to be simple and uncluttered, no real drill down type of navigation or anything fancy like that.
I want it to be functionally with the center of the screen being the common data area. And there is going to be a concept of messages and alerts within the system, so I want them to always be visible on every screen. My first sketch up looks like the following:

As you may remember from before, I’m on a little bit of a tight budget, so instead of hiring a designer to help me with this part, I’m relying on myself. To be honest, I might have done it myself anyway, but I’m not sure.
