No Sleep = No Accomplishments

After deciding that we would be building an “inventory management system for collectors”, I found myself obsessed with work again. Not with my day job like I have been in the past, but instead with the new business my wife and I are starting. I like working on IT projects, but my favorite part is planning out what the user would want for features, creating the architectures, whipping up prototypes. All that initial stuff which sets the stage for the rest of the application.
I’m the type of guy who loves to build things, but hates the final touch up work. I like to build walls, put up studs and hang the sheet rock, but I don’t like doing the plaster, paint and finish trim. I think you get the idea. So this is not only a fun part for me, but working on my own project? Take that fun and multiply it by 1000 for me!
Okay, so you get it, right? I’m pumped. I’m excited. I’m ready to go. Does this sound like a guy who got any sleep last night? No, of course not. I couldn’t sleep, no matter how much I tried. I watched TV, I listed to some boring MP3s. I tried everything to get my mind to wander and still I kept thinking about this business stuff. So the day at work today was just one of those that drags on, with the minutes driven forward only by the consumption of large amounts of coffee, tea and Mountain Dew.
